When an organization needs funding, there are many different avenues to go with from sale of items to events that bring the people out. One of the most popular events is a trivia night and Celebrations 150 has been the venue for many.
Setting It Up
Before you do anything with a Trivia Night, you need to decide if the event is general or themed. Themed events can be fun, and you can center the trivia questions around that theme as well. For example, a pirate themed event will have decorations about pirates and all the trivia questions involve pirates. It doesn’t have to be about the seafaring kind either. There are pirates in baseball movies and more. If you’re worried about coming up with enough themed trivia questions, then the event can be themed, but the questions can be general.
Work with the venue on decorations, etc. Celebrations 150 and Good Times Rentals has everything you need to create the perfect themed party from Western to the limit of your imagination. If we don’t have something, then we’ll work with you to find it.
Feed and Entertain Them
Every trivia night needs to have some type of food and drink available. Your players are there for hours and they get hungry and thirsty. Unless you want the occasional random pizza delivery, make sure the venue or you supply food and drink. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or free, but there should be something to snack on throughout the night.
You’ll also want a master of ceremonies that is entertaining and active. The last thing anyone wants is to spend four hours listening to a monotone voice doll out questions. You’ll also need an incentive for them such as prize money, etc. Many times the money is given back to the charity doing the fundraising, but you should provide something nevertheless. It’s a great time to incorporate other smaller fundraisers such as silent auctions and 50/50 drawings.
Where do You Find the Questions?
Perhaps the biggest worry an organizer has for a trivia night is how do they come up with all the questions? There are a few different options. You can come up with the questions on your own through research, but you need to make sure the answeres are correct and the sources are trusted. The other option is hiring a company that specializes in trivia nights. This not only eliminates the need for questions, but also provides an MC.
If your club, school or organization is considering a trivia night, then contact Celebrations 150 and we’ll work with you to create the perfect event.
